Before you jump to Lentils with chorizo recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Choosing Fast Food That’s Fine For You.
Almost every single article about losing weight and getting healthy tells readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and to carry out all of their own cooking. This is actually very true. Sometimes, though, the last thing you need is to have to cook a meal from scratch. Once in a while you need to visit the drive through when you are on your way home and finish the day. There is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to make it happen once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. This is because a lot of the famous fast food restaurants on the market are trying to “healthy up” their choices. Here is the way to eat healthy when you hit the drive through.
Concentrate on the sides. It was not that long ago that all you could get at the fast food diner was French Fries. Now more or less all of the famous fast food places have expanded their menus. Now you may get a range of salads. Chili is another choice. You can also get a baked potato. Fruit is normally offered. There are countless selections that you can choose that do not force you to consume foods that have been deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” try to build a meal from side dishes. When you are doing this you are able to keep your fat content and also calorie counts low.
Logic states that that one the easiest way to stay healthy is to avoid the drive through and never eat fast food. While, in most cases, this is a good idea, if you make intelligent choices, there is no reason to feel guilty for visiting a drive through one or two times a month. Often the thing you need most is just to have another person do the cooking. When you want healthful menu items, you do not have to feel guilty about visiting the drive through.
*We hope you got insight from reading it, now let’s go back to lentils with chorizo recipe. You can have lentils with chorizo using 15 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you do that. *
The ingredients needed to make Lentils with chorizo:
- Use 750 g pardina lentils (small ones)
- You need 1 large spring onion
- You need 1 leek
- Use 3 carrots
- Get 1 garlic clove
- Prepare 1 piece ginger
- Get 1 tsp aji rojo (or half chopped red chilli)
- Provide 1 tsp pimentón dulce (paprika)
- Get 1-2 bay leaves
- Prepare 1-2 bacon strips (1 cm wide)
- Prepare 3 Spanish chorizos
- Prepare Water
- You need Olive oil
- You need Salt
- You need 1 ripe tomato
Steps to make Lentils with chorizo:
- Peel and cut the leek, onion and carrots into very small pieces. Grate the garlic clove and the ginger. Poach it slowly in a pan with olive oil for around 10 minutes (if you are using red chili instead of aji, cut it in very small peaces and add it here!)
- After 10-12 minutes, add the bacon and tomato - peeled and cut into small pieces -, the ají (if you are using it dry), the bay leaves and salt. Let poach for 5 more minutes
- Then add the paprika, and after a minute, not more (otherwise the paprika will get burnt), add the lentils - previously washed and drained. Add enough water, more than to cover the lentils, but not too much, so that they do not remain watery at the end (we can always correct if water evaporates!)
- When they get to boil, leave them over medium heat for around 20 minutes. Then, add the chorizo (I normally cut it into slices about 1.5 cm thick)
- Cook them for around 20-30 more minutes, until the lentils are soft, and add more water if needed. We normally serve it with some white rice. Enjoy them!!!
