Instructions to make Lasagne:
  1. Boil tomatoes in a large pot until the skin starts to peel off. you can use canned tomatoes if you are in a hurry
  2. While the tomatoes are boiling, you can start with the chicken
  3. Saute the garlic and green chilli with the cumin seeds in the pot until the garlic becomes a a lovely golden brown
  4. Add green peppers and onions and give a mix.
  5. Add cubed chicken fillets. salt and black pepper. italian herbs.
  6. Let the chicken cook with the pot lid a little open.
  7. Now the tomatoes will be soft. use a potato masher to break the tomatoes into smaller pieces as it cooks down to a thick tomato sauce
  8. Once the water is cooked out of the chicken, add the tomatoes to the chicken. 2tsp salt. black pepper and Italian herbs
  9. Let the sauce cook together for another 10 to 15mins. dont let all the water cook out from the sauce
  10. Prepare your cheese sauce. let the butter melt in a sauce pan.
  11. Remove from heat. add the flour into the butter and whisk it to a smooth paste
  12. Add half the milk. whisk while doing this. when u have a smooth consistency return the pot to the stove and add the rest of the milk
  13. Keep whisking or stirring so that the flour does not stick to the bottom of the pot. the sauce wil thicken as the milk starts to heat up. once you have a lovely smooth thick sauce remove it from the heat
  14. Add mustard powder. salt. white pepper. nutmeg. 1 cup of cheese from the 400g that you grated
  15. Whisk again for a minute
  16. Preheat oven to 230 degrees Celsius grease a baking dish.
  17. Start with a layer of lasagne to line your dish. add half your chicken and sauce over the sheets
  18. Another layer of lasagne sheets. cover with half the cheese sauce
  19. The 3rd layer of lasagne sheets. cover with the remainder of the sauce
  20. Top with the 4th layer of lasagne sheets. and the balance of the cheese sauce
  21. Sprinkle the cheese and italian herbs
  22. Bake in oven for 30 mins. or until the cheese is golden brown
  23. Switch the oven off and allow the lasagne to rest for 10 mins.
